I think "support the form" is the way I've heard this idea presented, but 'support' doesn't seem to be telling me quite the right thing. I'm thinking of the forms as already existing. I'm trying not to destroy them with my lines. I don't know. I like this question. I hope explore this topic more in future posts.
I have noticed that Glenn Vilppu does this quite a lot with his squiggly lines whenever he sketches out muscles. it "wraps" around the form and he only put a few of those lines to suggest the direction and the angle of those forms
you mean the lines you put should 'support' the form?
