Drawings from Proportion Dolls

These dolls are designed to be flat, simple, basic shape representations of figures. They come from the idea that there's a lot of complex information in learning to draw a detailed, three dimensional human and it can help to separate things out into stages, for learning parts at a time, instead of everything all at once. Animal Bones

Went to the Page Museum at the tar pits today for animal drawing class. These are black prismacolor on acrylic washed pages of my sketchbook with gouache highlights.

Skeleton Arms

Rib cage gave me a lot of problems but I think it finally looks ok and I'm moving on to the arms.

Skeleton 2

been neglecting the skeleton lately but I've gotten a little more done on him. I'm still working on the ribcage, trying to make the ribs less mangled. I made the them too close together along the back when I was doing the wiring and I've been struggling to get it to look ok.

A commission. He's going to be playing a guitar and have a mohawk =) I started this a while ago and have been dragging my feet. I didn't take a lot of pictures along the way with the ecorche and thought it would be a good idea to get some pics of the insides this time.

I just finished taking Rey Bustos' Ecorche class at LAAFA and this is my finished model. The model is 1/4 scale made from clay with a wire armature.

It was a ton of work and I'm really proud of it. The fleshy hand's a little big. I'm hoping I'll get inspired at some point and fix it.
